So how did I get started creating custom sculpted cakes? While sitting at home one day, bored out of my mind, I decided to watch that famous show, Ace of Cakes - that was all it took. As I watched the show, I thought, “I can do that!”
I decided to try it. For our family Easter dinner in 2008, I made three, marshmallow fondant covered Easter Eggs. I let my three daughters decorate them with homemade buttercream icing, and the rest was history. I started branching out and made a Nashville Predators custom cake for our daughters' combined birthday party. The orders have been steady ever since.
I have no formal “pastry” training. Everything I know was learned from life experience and, of course, the Internet. I make my own fondant and frosting, and use other store bought items when necessary. I let the girls help me mix the ingredients, and for “family” cakes, I let them decorate as well. It has been a great family adventure.
God has certainly blessed me with an artistic ability, and it is my goal to use his gift to me in the most appropriate way I can to give Him glory in my work and life. Thanks for visiting our site, and we look forward to making your next custom cake!
